Abstract

In this paper, fuzzy logic is used for data fusion of Heart Rate (HR), Respiration Rate (RR) and saturation of oxygen (SpO2) in order to obtain inference on the existence of asthma attack in asthmatic patients. The results presented in this paper show that fuzzy-based data fusion of these vital signs removes the rigid threshold values of these vital sign used in rule-based data fusion, and hence, better decision on the severity of asthma episodes can be made especially in a remote health monitoring settings.
