Abstract
We characterize local rings in terms of certain fuzzy ideals. We also characterize rings of fractions at a prime ideal in terms of fuzzy ideals. We apply our results to fuzzy intersection equations. In particular, we show that the fuzzy ideal which represents a system of fuzzy intersection equations in a polynomial ring is such that its extension in a ring of fractions represents the same system of fuzzy intersection equations.
