Abstract

This panel discussion takes place a little over one year after the end of the Japanese national research project LIFE - Laboratory for International Fuzzy Engineering Research. In the intervening time the results of the work carried out at LIFE have been evaluated both formally, in Japan by the a group of specialists as well as informally by various individuals who had the opportunity to interact with LIFE related researchers. The panel further tries to gain insight into the impact of the LIFE project, with the two fold goal, to indicate directions in which the LIFE project might be continued, and to share results in an international setting, enabling others to utilize the experience gained from this project.
