Abstract

We propose a fuzzy associative memory system named Fuzzy Associative Memory Organizing Units System (FAMOUS) and show its usefulness with applications to control systems. In these applications, we use fuzzy if-then rules by means of FAMOUS and use association for fuzzy inference. We also use Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ) to automatically create membership functions of these fuzzy rules. LVQ is useful for mapping input vectors to fuzzy concepts shown in if-part of fuzzy rules. We apply FAMOUS with LVQ to two different examples to show its usefulness on computer simulations.
