Abstract
Software Defined Networks provide separation of data and control plane and reduce management complexity of the entire network. The customized centralized controller that is flexible and programmable is responsible for dynamic and efficient network management. With the increase in a number of managed switches and traffic flows, the scalability of such controller is questionable in large-scale networks. A number of approaches proposed distributed architecture for the controller. This paper advocates the use of multiple controllers to resolve the performance bottleneck but emphasizes on the selection of right design parameters for controllers. We propose a novel idea of using soft computing for making the decisions regarding the architectural issues of the controller. We provide a model based on Fuzzy Logic using network traffic pattern information in addition to other parameters to provide architectural design options for the controller for effective and dynamic network management.
