Abstract
In present scenario, development of alternative energy sources with zero emission system is essential but challenging for socio-economic development of various countries around the world. In this regard, hydrogen and fuel cell technology has attracted increased attention both from scientists and technologists all over the world due to its high energy efficiency. This technology has proven its potency as a potential alternative energy candidate in all the major sectors such as stationary, portable and transportation sectors. However, the development of low cost and highly efficient fuel cell is always desirable. In this regard, rigorous research and efforts are now ongoing to improve the performance of the FCs in all areas of applications across the globe. Keep in view, the importance and demand of hydrogen and fuel cell technology, this chapter is mainly focused onto update the advancement, development and future perspective of the hydrogen and fuel cell technology in different sectors.
