Abstract

Laser medical and laser surgery, we now separate non-surgery and surgery, are too progressive and dynamic to remain in a rust bowl. Advances in photobiology will continue to be in specific photothermolysis, short pulses, even to femtoseconds, rapid developing programs to determine potential mutagenesis and exogenous chromophores and photo-chemical reactions. Laser medicine will include vascular studies, diagnosis and treatment of atherolysis, clinical spectroscopy, laser immunobiology including nephelometry, cell sorting, and biostimulation. Laser surgery will include new instrumentation, cardiovascular surgery beyond laser angioplasty and atherolysis, neurosurgery with combined LSIF (Laser Scanning for Induced Flourescence) with PDT, laser atherolysis, laser arthroscopy, excimer laser surgery, vascular and peripheral nerve fusion. In addition, there will be liver surgery, extensive fiberoptics developments for both increased sensoring and increased operative flexibility. SDI will all have definite medica...
