Abstract

In this paper we make a study on the fusion of FY-2C visible image and infrared image through application of a typical set of image algorithms. We employ the quality measure Q to evaluate the performance of each algorithm. The results indicate that the qualities of fused images are actually improved relative to each source image after the fusion of visible images and the near-infrared (3.5–4.0µm band) images, The fused image contains more abundant information about the cloud. But to the fusion of visible images and far-infrared images, the qualities of fused images are improved only relative to the visible images, not be improved relative to far-infrared images.
