Abstract
Uncharged and charged liposomes, consisting of pure phosphatidyl choline (PC) or PC with phosphatidic acid (PA) are shown by electron microscopy to form structures consistent with the occurrence of membrane fusion upon exposure to small amounts of the n-alkyl bromides. Control vesicles similarly treated with n-hexane or calcium ions showed no evidence of fusion.
