Abstract

A fuseless capacitor bank construction is described. Before the first fuseless capacitor bank, engineering tests were performed to ensure that the fuseless concept was sound. Testing of faulted units included: continuous current, capacitor switching, and capacitor losses (power factor). Details pertinent to fuseless capacitor bank construction and characteristics of fuseless capacitor banks are discussed. In addition, protective considerations are given, methods for locating a defective capacitor unit are described, and design guidelines are presented.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
