Abstract

The results of an attempt to employ the emetic response of the common pigeon to establish a biological unit of Veratrum viride, based on its therapeutic activity, are described. Interrelationships between the amounts of tinctures required to produce a 50 per cent response in pigeons and the amounts of these tinctures required to produce equivalent percentage maximum blood pressure reductions in both the dog and the human are found to obtain.
