Abstract

Rat-into-mouse chimeras were produced by injection of rat bone marrow into irradiated or CY treated animals. Both groups of animals were given interval injections of CY during the first 2 weeks after the initial procedure. The degree of chimerism in the CY induced chimeras was limited and confined only to hematopoietic tissues. Donor type serum proteins were never detected in cultures of spleens or peritoneal macrophages. In the X-irradiated group, the only serum protein of donor origin produced by the chimeric tissues in vitro was Tr, which correlated with its presence in the sera of these animals.
