Abstract

No difference in number of ovarian follicles in rapid development was noted between the two strains of turkeys when this measurement was made during the middle of the laying period. The number of atreticfollicles per hen was significantly higher in the strain selected for increased growth rate than in hens from the egg strain. A greater percent of hens from the growth strain exhibited follicles developing in pairs.Positive correlations between egg weight and yolk weight, egg weight and rapid development, yolk weight and rest were noted, but egg weight and rest were negatively correlated. These correlations are discussed.
