A. ; Hewitt, J. N. Abstract Early observations identified MG 0414+0534 as a gravitational lens candidate: it displayed a three-component morphology, with the suggestion that one of the components was actually an unresolved pair. Higher resolution radio observations reported here confirm the existence of the pair and give a measurement of the angular separation of the components. We show that MG 0414+0534 exhibits properties characteristic of a simple gravitational lens system, including its morphology and the similar spectral indices of the different components.
