Abstract

Psychosis-proneness (Disintegration) is conceptualized as a broad, hierarchically-organized, and multi-dimensional disposition of behavior, independent from Big Five. NEO PI-R (240-self-report item inventory) and DELTA-10 (115-item self-report inventory capturing 10 modalities of Disintegration) were administered to 466 students to assess Big Five + Disintegration. Mothers and fathers rated the same participants on the rating forms of these instruments. Correlated Traits Correlated Uniquenesses CFA model – postulating the existence of six traits and three informants – provides an excellent fit to the data, Chi2(75) = 106.67, p = 0.010, CFI = 0.99, RMSEA = 0.030, SRMSR = 0.034. Besides, six factors extracted on the sample are orthogonally rotated to the corresponding factors extracted on the representative sample of Serbian population (N = 1001). The Disintegration factor determined from the student sample was more similar to the corresponding one in the general population than any of the Five Factors except Conscientiousness. The repercussions of these findings on the taxonomy of basic traits are discussed.
