Abstract

MeOH extract of the roots of Taraxacum officinale yielded α-amyrin (1), fatty alchol (2), sitosterol (3), stigmasterol (4), 3-acetoxy-19, 21-epoxyl-lupane (5), daucosterol (6), ursolic acid (7), taraxinic acid (8), α-amyrin palimitate (9), taraxasterol palmitate (10), α-amyrin acetate (11) and lupeol acetate (12). Structure elucidation was based on spectroscopic evidence. 5 is characterized as a new compound. This is the first report on the isolation of α-amyrin palimitate and taraxteryl palmate from T. officinale. Sugars constituted the bulk of the extract.
