Abstract

Besides of the groups of semiconducting elements and compounds treated in Chapters 1⋯3 many compounds are described in the literature as having “semiconducting properties”. Such substances show — a high electrical resistivity, — an optical energy gap (absorption edge) or thermal energy gap (activation energy of conductivity) — a negative or positive Hall voltage caused by electrons or holes.
