Abstract

This study aimed to analyze; (1) determine the cabbage farm profits, whatever the factors that influence it, and determine whether or not the maximum profit is achieved, as well as the state of the economies of scale cabbage farms, (2) determine differences in the relative economic efficiency of farming cabbage between wetlands and dry land. This research was conducted in October-November 2014. The research location is in the district Tanggamus Sumberejo to wetlands and District Gisting to dry land chosen deliberately. Number of samples 88 farmers were selected randomly. Data were analyzed with the approach of Cobb-Douglas profit function Output Unit Price (UOP) with Ordinasy least squares (OLS) method and Zellner's seemingly unrelated regression (SUR). Results of the study are (1) a profit of cabbage farming in Tanggamus on wetlands is Rp13.520.624,89/hectare and on dry land is. Rp11.151.367,90/hectare. Profit farming cabbage both wetlands and dry land in the District Tanggamus the current environment is significantly affected by the price of urea , the price of insecticides , and land , whereas in optimum conditions significantly affected by labor costs , the price of seed , the price of urea , the price NPK , the price of insecticide , fungicide prices and land area . Dummy variable types of land significantly affect profits , meaning that the advantages of farming in wetlands and dry land there is a difference . The maximum profit of cabbage farming has not been achieved due to the allocation of all inputs is not fixed, either entirely or partially inefficient. Scale enterprises (RTS) cabbage farming in wetlands and dry land either on actual and optimal conditions are on the rise conditions diminishing returns, (2) the relative economic efficiency analysis results showed no significant differences between the relative economic efficiency of cabbage farming in wetlands with dry land. Keywords : cabbage, profit function, relative efficiency,
