Abstract
This chapter presents the fundamentals, causes and remedies related to the common issues (asymmetric weld, unmixed zone, intermetallic compound, cracking of weld and HAZ, residual stress and distortion) encountered in joining of dissimilar metals combinations by arc, resistance welding. Fusion welding processes, namely GTAW, Pulse, cold metal transfer and Narrow gap variants of GMAW, SMAW and SAW, have been described considering the dissimilar metal joining. Additionally, dissimilar metal joining using brazing and braze welding has also been elaborated.
