Abstract

For the effective separation of polyaromatic compounds in coal tar, binary and ternary vapor-liquid equilibria were measured for the systems of CO 2-naphthalene, CO 2-2-methylnaphthalene, CO 2-quinoline, and CO 2-naphthalene-quinoline at 394 and 435 K. The data were correlated with the Peng-Robinson equation-of-state. The selection of optimum solvent for the extraction of naphthalene from a naphthalene-quinoline mixture was conducted by calculations using the Peng-Robinson equation-of-state.
