Abstract
In this lecture I wish to review some recent developments in particle physics, in particular the prediction and subsequent experimental discovery of a new type of weak interaction, the so-called neutral weak interaction. This interaction resulted as a consequence of unification of weak and electromagnetic interaction by Salam and Weinberg. Also I would discuss how the proliferation of strongly interacting particles, called hadrons, the well-known example of which is proton, has lead us to regard them as composite entities made up of quarks.
