Abstract
The streaming current detector, or SCD, measures the streaming current created in a closed-end cylinder due to particles attached to cylinder and piston walls. The device is used in water and wastewater treatment applications for monitoring or automatic feedback control of coagulant or conditioner dosages. This paper reviews some aspects of proper SCD usage, and then provides an improved theoretical description with experimental validation, and a means for instrument standardization.
