Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the functional parameters of the most commonly used causal conjunctions in the modern Ukrainian literary language (based on the material of the periodical «Krayina» (2016–2018), in particular an attention has been focused on the updated and stylistic neutral conjunctions reflecting national traditions in their use; the quantitative composition of the conjunctions for the explication of causal semantics-syntactic relations between the main and dependent predicative parts in the compound sentence has been proposed. The selection of compound sentences in which the means of formally-grammatical and semantic-syntactic links are causal conjunctions, shows that the most active in modern Ukrainian newspaper contexts are conjunctions bo and adzhe, mostly in the function of the parcels of the predicative part of the compound sentence, instead of the conjunctions oskilky and tomu shcho that reduce their functional-stylistic and stylistic parameters in favor of the conjunction pozayak because of the fact that it is productive in other styles of modern Ukrainian literary language, and today it has a status of actualizing casual conjunction.Possible reasons of expanding of functionally-stylistic and stylistic parameters of certain conjunctions for expressing causal semantics and limiting the range of the use of other conjunctions in Ukrainian periodicals at the beginning of the XXI century are established. They are defined by the authors’ of newspaper contexts attempt to recreate national traditions in the usage of the casual conjunctions that have been forgotten for some reasons, to identify modern newspaper speech, to specify it, to unify and to provide expressive colloquial text to journalistic texts. The prospect of further scientific researches in the study of functional and stylistic parameters of the conjunctions of other semantic coordinate and subordinate groups in modern Ukrainian literary language is outlined.
