Abstract
The functionalized reduced graphene oxide (F-rGO aerogel) was chemically synthesized and used to sense the catechol, and then characterized by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, voltammetric, field emission scanning electron microscopy techniques. The results of the surface morphology disclose that the uniform thin sheets of F-rGO aerogel /carbon pate electrode (CPE) present abundant catalytic active sites and large surface area. The F-rGO aerogel /CPE revealed the excellent selectivity and remarkable electrocatalytic activity for the catechol detection. In this system, 10 to 300 μM linear range and 0.056 μM detection limit was proved by the differential pulse voltammetry as electrochemical signal readout. Moreover, the designed electrode shows high durability, reproducibility and repeatability. The practical utility of F-rGO aerogel/CPE electrode was tested and demonstrated in drinking water samples.
