Abstract

Most of the polymer coatings are directly exposed to sunlight, leading to serious degradation on their surfaces. Functional triazine ultraviolet absorber (FT-UVA) with surface enrichment property was synthesized. The surface enrichment property of FT-UVA in coating surfaces was investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and attenuated total reflection Fourier-transform infrared spectrometry (ATR-IR). Contact angle measurements suggest that the enrichment of FT-UVAs on coating surface yielded a hydrophobic film. The effective protection of FT-UVA for PVC coating was investigated by artificial accelerated aging test. The calculation of dynamic process was conducted to gain insights into the surface enrichment mechanism of FT-UVA in coating.
