Abstract

Arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs) are a kind of hydroxyproline-rich glycoproteins in plants and implicated in various processes of growth and development. In this study, we firstly conducted a comprehensive elaboration on the identification, classification and glycosylation (amino acid code) of AGPs. Moreover, we summarized the research advances on gene functions of AGPs in reproductive development, vegetative organogenesis and interactions between plant and environment. The prospect of research on AGPs is also discussed in this paper and would give new insights toward the related research in the future.
