Abstract

The tourist arrival has increased as the cost of airfare has been reduced by many airlines. The Indian hotel industry is fortunate as the economy is thriving and opportunities for business have been increasing. The arrival of tourists has increased due to the entry of low cost airlines. The major campaign that paved way to increase the growth of tourism sector and hotel industry are ‘Incredible India ’destination campaign and the recently launched ‘Atithi Devo Bhavah ’(ADB). Employees should posses high energy level, enthusiasm and interest when they work as it results in a prosperous business atmosphere. Employees should possess characteristics such as leadership and interpersonal relationship as hotels are customer oriented. In order to have a career that is successful in the hotel industry and to run a hotel that is profitable customer satisfaction should be ensured which can be achieved by employee commitment. A committed employee will always think about the welfare of hotels and they will be customer centric. In order to succeed in hotel industry employees should possess good communication skills. If the employee is well proficient in the technical aspects of the industry he/she can survive in any Country. The study was conducted among 500 employees of star category hotels across India. Employees were surveyed for demographic factors that includes functional roles and working hours, The data was analysed using ANOVA and the results were tabulated.
