Abstract

Modern diets fail to provide the function demanded by the periodontium of some dentitions which exhibit a degenerative response to chronic destructive periodontal disease. The massaging action of adequate and correct toothbrushing satisfies the functional demand of the gingival tissues and is recognized as an essential oral health procedure. A method and an instrument have been described which, when used properly, will produce similar results in the periodontal membrane and alveolar bone.
