Abstract

Most published measurements of the permeability indexes of tumors have used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and small or macromolecular gadolinium-based contrast agents (1–6). We have now determined the same parameters using computed tomography (CT) and iodinebased agents, of both high and low molecular weight. The main advantage of CT over MRI is the direct linear relationship between the changes in Hounsfield units (HU) and the changes in local concentration of the agent. This study compares the functional parameters obtained with the nonspecific interstitial and macromolecular agents.
