Abstract

Repetition of Birch and Rabinowitz, (1951) experiment partially confirmed their findings of functional fixedness. When van de Geer’s (1957) reversed functions procedure was repeated, the demonstration of a lack of functional fixedness was hot only confirmed, but extended into a finding of positive transfer of training.
