Abstract

The article says that acts of refusal, as polyli-illitive by their nature units, exhibit a wide functional variability of the speaker's intention. According to the dominant components of the content or mode of its transmission illocutionary means are combined respectively into acts of asertization and directive of a pragmatic interaction space. In acts of assertification, the assertive and expressive (positive evaluation sign) illocutionary forces become decisive, in the acts of directive - the directive and expressive (negative evaluation mark) illocutionary forces. The choice of an illocutionary means of failure is determined by the following factors: the nature of the presentation of the stimulus and the intentional state speaking. They cause a modification of the ultimate goal of the producer of failure: the regulation of the stimulus producer's action plan, the solidarity of relations and the preservation of the positive image, suppression of the incentive producer's interests, the rejection of his action plan, the submission of his intentions to the interests of the producer of the refusal.
