Abstract

Sites of "Burin Neolithic" type in the Bādiyat al-Šām have high proportions of burins in the flint assemblages. Microwear studies have been done to find out how the burins may have been used. The results of these studies suggest that most of the burins were used, not as tools, but as cores for the production of spalls.
