Abstract

A fully resolved simulation (FRS) method for particulate flows with heat transfer based on the smoothed profile-lattice Boltzmann method (SP-LBM) is developed. The governing equations of the flow field and the temperature field are solved by the LBM. The fluid-particle interaction is treated by the SPM. Both the no-slip boundary condition for the velocity field and the conjugate interface conditions for the temperature field are satisfied. Unlike many previous models, the present LB model removes the assumption that the particles have the uniform temperature. Motion of circular catalyst particles in an enclosure is simulated to validate our method. The effect of the thermal expansion coefficient ratio on particle motion behaviours is also investigated.
