Abstract

We read the article by Tringali et al1 in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy on fully covered self-expandable metal stents (FCSEMSs) for treatment of persistent main pancreatic duct (MPD) strictures from chronic pancreatitis. FCEMSs were placed in 15 patients after an initial trial of plastic stent placement. A specifically designed FCSEMS (NitiS Bumpy Stent, Taewoong Medical, South Korea), diameters of 6 or 8 mm and lengths of 3 to 5 cm, were used and were removed an average of 7.1 months later.
