Abstract

The purpose of this research is to use a comprehensive approach to evaluate the reliability of a sprinkler system. Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) was used in this quantitative survey study to determine sprinkler failure. FTA is a popular technique for evaluating system performance and failures. However, there are some drawbacks to using traditional FTA, such as the inability to account for linguistic variables and uncertainties. A quantitative FTA will also require adequate information. Furthermore, more data is needed on many sites; thus, the fuzzy approach can be used with FTA to overcome these constraints. As a result, Fuzzy Fault Tree Analysis is used in this study to assess the reliability of a sprinkler system.
