Abstract

Abstract The possibility of using full-text online databases as a supplement to interlibrary loan for document delivery is examined. The benefits of speed, competitive cost, and copyright advantages are analyzed in light of current interlibrary loan operations. The disadvantages of varying definitions of full-text and the availability of a relatively small number of full-text online journals are discussed, with the latter being the primary reason full-text databases remain only a potential document delivery system in an academic setting.
