Abstract

A full order continuous time generalized averaging approach for modelling of modular dual active bridge (MDAB) converter in a three stage type D modular solid state transformer (SST) is presented. Modelling of the high frequency AC (HFAC) link inductor current of MDAB can not be achieved by conventional averaging method that relies on small ripple criterion. Generalized averaging modelling method has been employed to arrive at a full order model for the MDAB. A linearised small signal model is also derived based on this and integrated with the grid connected cascaded multilevel front end converter(CMFEC).
