Abstract

Taking into account the different interaction mechanisms of γ-rays with matter, we have calculated the pulse-height distribution resulting from the bombardment of cadmium-telkuride (CdTe) counters by 137Cs and compared the results to the experimental distributions. Comparisons with equivalent sensitive volume Si(Li) and pure Ge counters have also been made. The dependence of the full-energy peak efficiency as a function of applied bias voltage, position of the interaction, time relative to the application of bias, and energy of the incident radiation has also been investigated.
