Abstract

Affilia 's commitment to feminist social work knowledge and practice includes ongoing dialogue among scholars, teachers, and community practitioners and activists whose work is challenging gender oppression, changing women's lives, and shaping the future of feminism. As part of our new Women Creating Change column, we are bringing their stories to our readers. In October 2001, members of the Affilia board were challenged and inspired by the work and words of Viola Casares and Petra Mata, organizers with Fuerza Unida in San Antonio, Texas. We launch Women Creating Change with their story, written by Janet L. Finn, column editor.
