Abstract

The vibration-rotation spectra of the ν12(A″2), ν12 + ν14(E′), and ν12 + ν14 (E′ ⊗ E″) bands for 1,3,5-triazine have been measured with an FTIR spectrometer, with the spectral resolution being about 0.002 cm−1. A set of accurate molecular constants has been determined for the ground state, and the excited states ν12 = 1 and ν12 = ν14 = 1. No accidental perturbation has been detected at the present level of accuracy. The ν12 + ν14 − ν14 band is found to have a pronounced PAPE structure. From a suitable combination of lines of ν12 + ν14 and ν12 + ν14 − ν14, more than 1400 transitions of the IR-inactive ν14(E″) have been obtained. The molecular constants of the state ν14 = 1 have been determined, with the standard deviation being about 2.6 × 10−4 cm−1.
