Abstract

confirmed HIV diagnosis was 8 6 11 years and the mean CD4 count in peripheral blood was 481 6 253, with a median viral load of 40 6 2 copies. All patients were asymptomatic. An abnormal ankle-brachial index (ABI) test was found in 20.4% (ABI $1.4 in 39 patients). Viral load (P 1⁄4 .04) and the number of years with HIV (P 1⁄4 .04) were significantly associated with abnormal ABI tests. Conclusions: PAD is more frequent inMexican patients withHIV/AIDSwhencomparedwith thegeneral population. Cardiovascular risk factors were not associated with PAD in our cohort. The most important factors associated with this disease are viral load and the number of years with HIV.
