Abstract

The adsorptions of iminodiacetic acid (IDA), nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) and their sodium salts as well as adsorption of alkaline salts of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) on gamma alumina support have been investigated by transmission FT-IR. The IR spectra in the 1800–1200 cm −1 region of the supported complexones are quite different from those of the unsupported compounds. The results obtained imply that the observed changes in the properties of adsorbed chelates are mainly due to interaction of the chelate molecules with alumina hydoxyl groups.
