Abstract
Hydraulic accumulators provide improved energy efficiency by enabling manufacturers to install smaller hydraulic systems to actuate transmission gears. This technology focus article briefly describes how Freudenberg Sealing Technologies' (FST) hydraulic accumulator systems make use of the company's sealing technology to help save energy and ease installation challenges in dual-clutch transmissions for internal combustion engines. It provides details of the firm's new plastic piston, which relies on single-part sealing technology and, separately, also looks at an accumulator cylinder from FST that is integrated into a track drive for a tractor – made by a German manufacturer of machinery used in agriculture.
