Abstract

The cloud computing concept has been introduced as a solution that helps to share services in a mobile environment. The combination of the concept of cloud computing and an ad-hoc vehicular networks (VANET) forms a Vehicular Cloud (VC), which offers services to consumer vehicles via supplier vehicles. These services have a tremendous effect on internet connectivity, storage and data applications. Due to the high-speed mobility of vehicles, users in consumer vehicles need to find out services in their neighborhoods. Moreover, supplier vehicles offer services with different qualities, which conduct consumer vehicles to select the best of them. In this paper, we propose a novel approach (FR-VC) that allows constructing the VC using the Roadside Unit (RSU) directory and the Cluster Head (CH) directory to give more visibility to supplier vehicle resources. Clusters of vehicles that move on the same road form a mobile cloud. Whereas the other vehicles form a different cloud in the roadside unit. Simulation results prove the effectiveness of our approach in terms of wait time to register and hit percentage metrics.
