Abstract

Competing short-range interactions are considered between Ising spins placed on vertices of the two-dimensional quasiperiodic octagonal tiling. For physically reasonable competing interactions, various types of magnetic ground states appear for different choices of the local environments of active — magnetic — sites, consequences jointly of the frustration and quasiperiodicity.
