Abstract

The topological model of strong and weak H-bonds suggested previously was used for structure investigation of the ground energy state of the proton subsystem of gas hydrate frameworks. It is shown that gas hydrate frameworks are frustrated systems, that is, configurations consisting of exclusively strong H-bonds may not exist in view of combinatorial and topological constraints. Rough estimates were obtained for the maximal and minimal fractions of strong H-bonds (∼65 and 6%, respectively).
