Abstract
This review explores the variety of synthetic uses for metalated (aza)bicyclo[1.1.0]butanes and how these linchpin reagents have been instrumental in progressing the area of small-molecule strain-release transformations. Such species have been demonstrated to interact with a broad range of carbon and heteroatom electrophiles, as well as metal complexes, to facilitate the rapid diversification of (aza)bicyclo[1.1.0]butane-containing compounds.
