Abstract

Surfaces are ubiquitous in nanomaterials at large. Colloidal nanocrystals provide a versatile platform to conveniently study in the solution phase the impact of surface chemistry on the electronic structure of nanomaterials. On page 14358, the impact of the post-synthesis surface chemistry modification on the light absorption properties of colloidal quantum dots is discussed. A unified description of the contribution of the surface species to the ground state electronic structure of the overall, ligand-coordinated quantum dot is attempted.
