Abstract

Cation-tuning engineering has recently been regarded as an efficient strategy to modify the electronic structure of metal oxides, thus improving the electrochemical performance towards oxygen-related reactions. In this Concept Article, L. Cao, B.-W. Zhang, and S. Zhao highlight the advantages of cation-tuning engineering, summarize the current state of this field, and propose future opportunities and challenges for its practical application (DOI: 10.1002/chem.202202000).
