Abstract

Exploratory tests have been carried out to determine the possibility of using a front flap to augment static lift and recovered thrust of power augmented ram platforms. Pressure distributions, measured under a model-scale platform, demonstrate a strong effect in response to the front flap deflection. It is found that both lift and thrust recovery can be nearly doubled in some configurations by deploying the front flap.
